Musée Réattu
Housed in a remarkable monument of Arles' architectural heritage, the former Grand Priory of the Order of Malta, the museum's collections originated from the 19th-century donation of works by the neoclassical painter Jacques Réattu (1760-1833). Captivated by this exceptional setting, great 20th-century artists – Pablo Picasso, Ossip Zadkine, and Germaine Richier – brought new vitality to the institution after World War II. In 1965, the first photography collection in a fine arts museum in France was established here, cementing the museum’s pioneering role, which today remains open to the most contemporary forms of artistic creation.
