Dino Buzzati
1906, San Pellegrino di Belluno – 1972, Milan.
Dino Buzzati, the author of The Tartar Steppe (1940) spent his life considering himself more of a painter than a writer. His first exhibition took place in Milan in 1958. He also illustrated some of his writing, painted theatre sets and transformed his children’s story The Bears Famous Invasion of Sicily into a comic strip. He wrote a graphic poem Poema a Fumetti (Poem Strip), where dreamlike imagery and surrealism intermingle.
