Tsutomu Hoshitani
1956, Osaka.
After graduating in 1983 from the Musashino Art School in Tokyo, Tsutomu Hoshitani developed a highly refined form of art, inspired by medieval Japanese philosophy where movement contends with contemplation and tension with the peace of meditation. Engaged in environmental issues and the impact of globalisation on our societies, he situates his artistic practice, in which spontaneity plays a key role, within a more extensive reflection on the position of the individual in a world undergoing uncontrollable changes.
