Gérard de Palézieux
1919, Vevey – 2012, Sierre, Switzerland.
At the age of 16, Gérard de Palézieux entered the Lausanne School of Fine Arts, supplementing his formal studies by teaching himself. In 1939, he spent time at the Accadamia di Belle Arti in Florence, where he studied Renaissance art. From 1975, he devoted himself to watercolour painting, which lent his art much more freedom. He was also a master of etching, producing over 1000 plates, some for his own personal use and others for publication. In 2000, a major retrospective of his work was organised at the Rembrandt House Museum in Amsterdam.
